Despicable Dead is operated by Searuswega Workshop Ltd. (“we”, “us” or “our”). This policy explains what happens to information about you when you visit this site, watch or listen to our work, support us, or buy merchandise.
The short version is simple: we do not run our own advertising trackers or analytics on this website, and we do not sell your personal data. Some services we link to or embed do collect information, however, and they may make a portion of it available to us through their creator and sales dashboards.
Who is responsible for your information?
For personal data handled directly by Searuswega Ltd., the data controller is:
Searuswega Workshop Ltd.
Registered address: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom
Platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, Patreon and our print-on-demand providers also process information under their own privacy policies. Depending on the service and the activity involved, they may act as independent controllers or process limited information in connection with the services they provide to us.
Information collected on this website
We do not use first-party analytics, advertising pixels or behavioural tracking tools on this website.
Like almost every website, our hosting provider may create technical server logs when pages are requested. These can include an IP address, browser and device information, the requested page, the referring page, and the date and time of the request. We use this information only where necessary to deliver, secure and diagnose the site. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a safe and reliable website.
Embedded players and external links
Episode pages may contain players supplied by YouTube and Spotify. When a page containing one of these players loads, or when you interact with it, your browser may connect directly to that service. The provider may receive technical and usage information, use cookies or similar technologies, and associate your activity with your account if you are signed in. This processing is controlled by the relevant provider and is described in its own privacy and cookie notices.
The site also links to third-party services including Patreon, podcast platforms and print-on-demand shops. Following one of those links takes you to a service we do not operate. Its terms and privacy policy apply to what you do there.
Information partners make available to us
As a creator or seller, we may receive information through partner dashboards, reports or notifications. Depending on the service and your interaction, this may include:
- aggregated or approximate audience information, such as views, plays, broad location, referral source and audience demographics;
- usernames, membership status and details of interactions with our work;
- names, email addresses or messages supplied through a membership platform;
- membership, purchase and payment-status information, but not full payment-card details; and
- delivery details where they are needed to provide a physical benefit or deal with an order.
YouTube, Spotify, Patreon and our print-on-demand providers decide what they collect and what they show to creators. We do not receive every piece of information they hold about you.
How we use information
We use the limited information available to us to:
- publish, operate and protect Despicable Dead;
- understand, in broad terms, whether people watch, listen to and support the project;
- administer memberships and provide benefits people have requested;
- answer messages, handle problems and respond to rights requests;
- maintain financial, tax and business records; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights where necessary.
Our lawful bases are performance of a contract where information is needed to provide something you have requested; compliance with legal obligations for accounting and similar records; and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the project. Where consent is required, you may withdraw it at any time.
We do not use partner data to build our own advertising profiles or to make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Selling and sharing information
Searuswega Workshop Ltd. does not sell or rent your personal data.
We disclose personal data only where necessary to providers supporting the project, professional advisers, regulators or law-enforcement bodies; where the law requires it; or in connection with the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Partner platforms may make their own disclosures as explained in their policies.
International processing
Some partners operate internationally and may process information outside the United Kingdom. Those providers are responsible for explaining their locations and transfer safeguards in their privacy policies. If we arrange an international transfer ourselves, we will use a lawful transfer mechanism where one is required.
How long we keep information
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose described above. Routine technical logs are kept according to our hosting provider’s retention settings. Messages are normally retained only while they remain useful for the relevant conversation. Membership and order information is kept while needed to provide the service and resolve disputes. Financial records may be retained for the period required by tax and company law.
Information held by YouTube, Spotify, Patreon or a print-on-demand provider is retained according to that provider’s policy. Removing information from our own records does not necessarily remove the provider’s copy.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you the right to ask us to:
- provide a copy of your personal data;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- erase information;
- restrict how information is used;
- provide certain information in a portable format; or
- stop processing information, including the right to object where we rely on legitimate interests.
These rights are not absolute and exemptions may apply.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
Children
Despicable Dead is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data directly from them. Third-party platforms apply their own age requirements.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the site, our partners or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
